Lance Cpl. Bruce Earnest Ferrell, 21, of Perdido, Alabama, was a U.S. Marine killed in action on August 10, 2009, in Garmsir, Afghanistan.

From WINFIELD, MO, LCPL Schimmel, Patrick Wayne served with the MARINE CORPS, G CO, 2D BN, 8TH MAR, (RCT-3, 2D MEB FWD), 2D MAR DIV, CAMP LEJEUNE, NC, and died on August 9, 2009 in KANDAHAR, AFGHANISTAN. He was 21. Cause: HOSTILE.

Active Duty, ARMY, COMPANY C, 50TH SIGNAL BATTALION, 160TH SIGNAL BRIGADE, FORT BRAGG, NC, SFC Smith, Tara Jean of NASHVILLE, NC, 33, died in BAGRAM AIRFIELD, AFGHANISTAN on August 8, 2009.

LCPL Olvera, Javier, 20, a native of PALMDALE, CA, died serving in the Active Duty, MARINE CORPS, G CO, 2D BN, 8TH MAR, (RCT-3, 2D MEB FWD), 2D MAR DIV, CAMP LEJEUNE, NC, during Operation Enduring Freedom on August 8, 2009. Cause: HOSTILE.

From LAKE FOREST, CA, CPL Swanson, Matthew Kalen Samuel served with the ARMY, COMPANY A, 3D BRIGADE SPECIAL TROOPS BATTALION, 3 BCT, FORT DRUM, NY, and died on August 8, 2009 in BETHESDA, UNITED STATES. He was 20.

U.S. Army Sergeant Jerry Randall Evans Jr., 23, of Eufaula, Alabama, was killed in action on August 7, 2009, in the Sayed Abad District of Afghanistan.

Corporal Christian Armando Guzman Rivera, 21, of Homestead, Florida, was a U.S. Marine killed in Farah Province, Afghanistan, on August 6, 2009.

Lance Corporal James David Argentine, 22, of Farmingdale, New York, was a U.S. Marine killed in Farah Province, Afghanistan, on August 6, 2009.

Lance Corporal Travis Thornton Babine, 20, of San Antonio, Texas, was a U.S. Marine with 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines. He was killed in hostile action in Farah Province, Afghanistan, on August 6, 2009.

Sgt. Jay Michael Hoskins, 24, of Paris, Texas, was a U.S. Marine killed in hostile action in Farah province, Afghanistan, on August 6, 2009.

Anthony Christian Garcia, a 21-year-old Hospitalman from Tyndall, Florida, died in Afghanistan's Farah province on August 5, 2009, while serving with the U.S. Navy.
