Oleksandra Kuvshynova
Oleksandra Kuvshynova was a Ukrainian journalist and producer working for Fox News. She was killed on March 14, 2022, in Horenka, Ukraine, while covering the war.
Their Story
Oleksandra Kuvshynova was a Ukrainian journalist working as a local producer and fixer for Fox News. She was assisting the network's correspondent, Benjamin Hall, and cameraman, Pierre Zakrzewski, in covering the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
On March 14, 2022, Kuvshynova was traveling with the Fox News crew in Horenka, a village northwest of Kyiv. Their vehicle was reportedly struck by incoming fire. Kuvshynova and cameraman Pierre Zakrzewski were killed. Correspondent Benjamin Hall was severely injured.
The incident occurred during the Battle of Kyiv, a major phase of the full-scale Russian invasion that began in February 2022. Horenka, like other suburbs of the capital, saw intense fighting as Russian forces attempted to encircle the city in the war's opening weeks.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) confirmed Kuvshynova's death as work-related. Fox News Media CEO Suzanne Scott stated the team was killed by a 'brutal attack' and that the network was 'heartbroken' by the loss. Ukrainian authorities opened an investigation into the incident.
Kuvshynova is remembered as part of a cohort of journalists and local fixers who risked their lives to report from the front lines. Her death, alongside that of her colleague, highlighted the extreme dangers faced by media personnel in the conflict zone.
