Jose Antonio Torre Jr. was a 21-year-old soldier from Garden Grove, California. He served with Company C, Special Troops Battalion, 2nd Advise and Assist Brigade, based at Fort Riley, Kansas, and deployed to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.

On January 15, 2011, Specialist Torre was killed in Baghdad. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, his death was the result of hostile action. The specific incident was not detailed in initial casualty reports, which was common for the period.
