Robert Michael Friese was a 21-year-old specialist from Chesterfield, Michigan. He served with Troop I, 3rd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, based at Fort Hood, Texas, and was deployed to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn.
According to U.S. Department of Defense casualty reports, Friese died on April 29, 2011, in Al Kut, Wasit Province, southeast of Baghdad. The official cause was listed as hostile fire. No further operational details of the incident were publicly released by the military.
