Their Story
Senior Airman Alecia Sabrina Good was a 23-year-old communications specialist from Broadview Heights, Ohio. She was assigned to the 92d Communications Squadron, based at Fairchild Air Force Base in Washington state.
On February 17, 2006, Good was killed when the vehicle she was traveling in struck an improvised explosive device (IED) near Bagram Air Base, Afghanistan. The Department of Defense stated she was supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
Operation Enduring Freedom was the U.S.-led military campaign that began in October 2001 following the September 11 attacks. Its initial objective was to dismantle the al-Qaeda terrorist network and remove the Taliban regime in Afghanistan, which had harbored them.
Good's death was reported by the Department of Defense and noted in local Ohio media. She was posthumously promoted from Airman First Class to Senior Airman. Her remains were returned to the United States for burial.
She is memorialized on the Air Force Memorial and on the Afghanistan War casualty lists maintained by the Department of Defense. Her name is included on the Ohio Fallen Heroes Memorial.
