Ali Larijani

Ali Larijani was a prominent figure in Iranian politics for decades. He served as Speaker of the Parliament from 2008 to 2020 and held key positions in national security, including Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council. Following the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in 2024, Larijani was reported to have assumed a senior advisory and security role within the country's leadership structure.

On March 17, 2026, Larijani was killed in an airstrike in Tehran. Iranian state media confirmed his death, reporting that the strike targeted a secure compound in the capital.
