Their Story
Sergeant First Class Nicole Amor was a 39-year-old senior non-commissioned officer from White Bear Lake, Minnesota. She served in the 103rd Sustainment Command of the US Army Reserve, assigned to theater logistics missions supporting US military operations across the Middle East.
On March 1, 2026, Amor was working at a US operations center within the civilian Port of Shuaiba in Kuwait. According to US Central Command, the facility was struck by a one-way attack drone launched by Iranian forces. The attack killed six US service members; Amor was among them.
The strike occurred during a period of open hostilities referred to by the US as Operation Epic Fury, a conflict that escalated from regional tensions into direct US-Iran military engagements in early 2026. Kuwait, a longstanding US ally, hosts several key logistical hubs for American forces in the region.
The US Department of Defense confirmed the casualties the following day. Amor's death was reported by several major news outlets, noting she was among the first US servicewomen killed in the 2026 conflict. Her remains were repatriated to the United States.
Sergeant First Class Amor was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart and the Defense Meritorious Service Medal. Her name is recorded on memorials honoring US service members killed in the 2026 conflict.
