Kauyen Yar Kadde Book 2 Complete Hausa Novel
Kauyen ‘Yar Kadde is a town in Nigeria, located in Nasarawa State. It is a small community made up of people from different backgrounds and languages.
Muslims and followers of traditional religions live together there, and the town is generally known for peace, unity and abundant natural resources. Farming is one of the major occupations, with residents cultivating different kinds of crops.
Today, my journey brought me into this peaceful town.
I found myself standing in front of a modest traditional house built in the familiar local style. Not far from the house stood a small clinic, while a little primary school could be seen directly opposite it.
I entered the house to bring you the story taking place inside.
“Joy, you know there is church today, don’t you?” her mother asked.
Joy remained silent as though the woman was speaking to someone else.
“Joy, I’m talking to you. Can you hear me?”
Her mother continued impatiently, “You only start behaving like this whenever Sunday comes. The moment you hear that it is Sunday, you suddenly become slow and reluctant.”
“Get yourself ready and meet me at church. I’m already running out of time. And don’t even think about refusing to come.”
She clicked her tongue and shook her head before leaving.
Even after her mother left, Joy remained exactly where she had been sitting.
She stayed there for almost an hour before finally getting up.
That gave me enough time to take a closer look at her.
Joy was a young girl of about sixteen years old.
She was fair-skinned and tall, with an appearance that could best be described as naturally pleasant rather than unusually striking.
She carried herself calmly and quietly.
Still dressed in her comfortable night clothes, she eventually walked into the kitchen.
She served herself a very small portion of leftover jollof rice, barely enough for a young child.
She returned to her room and ate only part of it before taking the plate back.
Afterward, she fetched water into a bucket and went to have her bath.
She spent quite some time there before coming out.
When she was ready, she dressed simply in a top and long trousers.
Her long black hair was beautiful and fell naturally down her back.
She wore no noticeable makeup.
Joy picked up her Bible, locked the house and started walking toward the church, which was not very far from their home.
She walked slowly and quietly, carrying herself with noticeable calmness.
Along the way, she passed a familiar gathering place where a group of young men regularly spent their mornings together, whether the weather was cold or rainy.
The moment they noticed Joy approaching, their attention immediately shifted toward her.
As she passed, several of them continued watching her.
One of the young men shook his head and remarked that Joy had grown into a remarkable young woman, although she was known for keeping to herself and rarely paying attention to people around her.
Another young man commented that she was extremely reserved and difficult to approach.
One of his friends replied that if someone genuinely respected and cared about her, the proper thing would be to approach her honourably rather than disturbing her.
Joy, completely uninterested in their conversation, continued peacefully on her way toward the church.
