Gaskiya Ce Book 1 Complete Hausa Novel

I was a little girl of about ten years old. I was very fair-skinned, with a beautiful nose, lovely hair and cute pink lips.

Honestly, I considered myself extremely beautiful, almost as if I had personally created myself. Anyone who saw me immediately noticed my beauty, and sometimes I even startled people with it.

I was walking through our Fulani village called Lardo in Adamawa State.

I walked calmly, although from time to time I increased my pace because I wanted to get home quickly.

Even the way I walked was enough to attract attention.

I continued until I reached the side of the main road in our village.

There were five expensive-looking vehicles moving in a convoy.

At first, I, Asmah, even thought perhaps the President was passing through.

There were security escorts and soldiers in four of the vehicles, protecting the main vehicle.

They kept sounding their horns at me.

But because I was in a hurry to get home, I hardly paid attention to them.

By then, I had reached an area near the back of our street where a few villagers were gathered.

Suddenly, I felt someone push me.

I fell down, though not very hard.

I immediately burst into tears.

The people continued sounding their horns, but I stubbornly refused to stand up.

I lowered my head and thought to myself:

“Wallahi, you people have brought trouble upon yourselves. You have touched the beloved daughter of Kawu Dodon Shanu.”

Before I finished that thought, a pleasant and expensive fragrance suddenly filled the whole area.

The scent was so good that I opened my nostrils wider just so I could breathe in more of it.

Before I understood what was happening, someone slapped me.

Before I could even raise my head, another slap landed on my face.

I tried to stand up, but I was pushed again and thrown to the side.

A terrible pain travelled through my whole body.

My body immediately began trembling.

My face became red, and the marks from the hand that had slapped me could clearly be seen.

The slap was so painful that my vision temporarily became blurry.

The villagers standing nearby immediately began exclaiming in shock.

“This man is in serious trouble today!” one of them said.

“He has encountered the daughter of Kawu Dodon Shanu. This is trouble!”

Others simply stood there watching us and laughing.

Within a short time, more people began gathering around.

Throughout everything that had happened, I hadn’t even properly looked at the face of the man who had hit me.

I began screaming loudly.

Then I finally raised my eyes and looked at him.

If I had not been naturally courageous, I might have fainted from the shock of seeing him.

The man was incredibly handsome.

He was neither very fair nor dark-skinned.

His skin was smooth and clean, and there was something striking about his appearance.

His hair was thick and beautifully arranged.

His lips were small and slightly reddish, making him look almost like an Indian actor.

Honestly, Allah had blessed him with extraordinary good looks.

He wore a spotless white traditional outfit that shone brightly.

The outfit stopped around his knees and fitted his body perfectly.

He was neither too tall nor short.

He was neither skinny nor overweight.

Then he gave a mischievous smile.

That was when I noticed that he even had dimples.

Moments later, his face became serious again, almost as though he had never smiled in his entire life.

Then I suddenly remembered something important.

I was the beloved daughter of Kawu Dodon Shanu.

That thought immediately gave me confidence.

I stood up and looked at him from head to toe.

I frowned and pointed at myself.

“Do you even know whose daughter I am in this village?” I asked boldly.

“Do you know who I am?”

I looked at him proudly, carrying myself with confidence and arrogance.

“Today, I will see who is powerful enough to defend you.”

I immediately spotted a young boy nearby.

“Haladu,” I called. “Go and call my uncle. He is where the cattle are.”

The young man, who appeared to be no older than twenty-seven, was completely amazed.

He couldn’t believe that such a small girl could be this stubborn.

What surprised him even more was that I showed absolutely no fear despite all the soldiers surrounding him.

That was why he decided to remain there.

He wanted to see what I would do and who exactly I was boasting about.

One of the soldiers eventually spoke.

“Sir, let’s go. She’s wasting our time. Or we can deal with this situation right now.”

The young man raised his hand with authority, signalling them to stop.

The soldiers returned to their vehicles and waited for him.

Less than two minutes later, Kawu Dodon Shanu appeared.

He was rushing toward us so quickly that he almost fell.

He desperately wanted to know who had dared to touch me, especially because I was his beloved youngest niece.

When he arrived and saw the young man together with all the expensive vehicles lined up nearby, he almost froze.

But because of how much he loved me and because of his naturally fearless personality, he remained standing firmly with his herding stick in his hand.

The moment I saw him, I immediately threw myself onto the ground and started screaming dramatically.

I waved my hands wildly.

“Uncle! I’m finished! I’m in serious trouble!”

Kawu immediately became worried.

“What happened? What did they do to you?”

I quickly pointed at the young man.

“There he is!” I cried.

“They have been following me with their vehicles. Uncle, he wanted me to go with him, and because I refused, he followed me all the way into the village!”

The crowd immediately erupted in shocked exclamations.

Even the young man himself stared at me in disbelief.

He could not believe that such a small girl was capable of inventing such a serious accusation against him.

He became so angry that for a moment he couldn’t even speak.

Before anyone knew what was happening, Kawu Dodon Shanu grabbed him by the collar.

He was breathing heavily with anger.

It took several people to pull Kawu away from the young man.

The young man was furious and deeply humiliated that someone had actually grabbed his collar in front of everyone.

He immediately entered his vehicle.

The convoy sped deeper into the village.

They did not stop anywhere until they reached the residence of Alhaji Mai Gari, the village head.

Kawu Dodon Shanu grabbed my hand and we followed them.

When we reached the village head’s residence, we saw the same vehicles parked outside.

Then we heard people saying:

“The village head’s grandson has arrived.”

Kawu and I looked at each other in confusion.

Kawu’s confidence weakened slightly as we entered the palace.

Inside, we found the young man with the village head.

Most of the soldiers remained outside, while two stood nearby providing security for him.

The village head, who was known as Sarkin Adalci, warmly greeted Kawu.

They exchanged greetings with mutual respect.

Kawu then explained everything I had told him.

The village head became visibly angry.

He immediately turned toward the young man.

“Suhail, is this true?”

So the young man’s name was Suhail.

Suhail simply nodded his head.

Because of the pride and confidence in his expression, everyone interpreted the gesture as an admission.

The village head became even angrier.

He looked directly at me.

“Lilla, Kawu’s beloved daughter, is everything you said true?”

I answered confidently:

“It is the truth.”

The village head immediately picked up his phone.

“Suhail, I’m going to tell your father what you have been doing.”

Suhail remained silent.

He simply listened.

The village head continued speaking on the phone.

“Yes, that is what happened. Alright. Very well.”

Then he turned toward everyone.

“Give me two minutes.”

He stood up and called Kawu, Lilla’s guardian.

I had absolutely no idea what they discussed.

Not long afterward, several elders and important people began arriving.

The palace became crowded.

What confused me most was seeing many members of Kawu’s extended family among them.

Then suddenly, we heard the Imam beginning a marriage sermon.

I still didn’t understand what was happening.

A moment later, we heard the announcement that a marriage had been contracted between:

MUBARAKA SANI — LILLA

and

SUHAIL ASSADIQ

Suhail immediately raised his head in shock.

I stared around in disbelief.

Then I collapsed to the floor crying.
