She was sitting on a mortar, staring intensely at one spot as if something had captured all her attention. Suddenly, a beautiful woman who looked no older than twenty-seven came out from one of the rooms.
The woman looked at the young lady sitting there and, before she realized it, tears began gathering in her eyes. One would have thought she had become used to this by now, because it had been almost three months since the girl woke up from a six-month coma, yet she had remained in this condition.
“Allah sarki, Abar So.”
That was what the woman said. Within a few seconds, she walked closer and placed her hand on the girl’s shoulder.
Even without turning, the young lady knew who had touched her. She only released a deep sigh and turned her gaze toward the woman.
The Beauty of Abar So
The young lady was extremely beautiful. Even though she was not the very fair type, her beauty surpassed many others. Her eyes were not ordinary; they looked like anime eyes, filled with long and striking lashes.
Her lips were heart-shaped and beautifully pink. She also had a slim nose that completed her gentle beauty.
The woman said to her:
“Baby, your food will get cold.”
To my surprise, the girl only nodded her head.
I asked myself, “Is she mute?”
She stood up and began walking. Her calm steps carried a natural elegance that could draw anyone’s attention. She entered the kitchen, took her food, but ate only about five spoons before covering the rest and returning to what I assumed was her room.
Kursum and Her Husband
In another scene, a handsome young man was lying on a bed, turning from side to side. He wore only boxers, with no shirt on.
A young woman who looked about twenty-five came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel that reached halfway down her thighs. In one hand, she held another towel, using it to dry her hair.
She walked toward the bed where the young man lay and said:
“Haba love, what kind of life is this? I am already tired. If I’m not mistaken, we have gone five rounds, yet you still haven’t gotten the peace you want.”
She continued:
“Honestly, we need to go to the hospital for a checkup because we don’t know whether this is a sickness. Don’t come and destroy my life for nothing. I am not ready to die now. If life has become too much for you, then you can die alone because I still have important things to do in life. I still want my life.”
Since she began speaking, he had been looking at her with his weak black eyes, amazed by her behavior. They had been married for almost three years, yet he had never found complete peace with her.
Still, she was the one trying to provoke him with words.
In a soft voice, he said:
“Haba Kursum, where is the love you claimed to have for me? Honestly, I still don’t believe you truly love me.”
She replied:
“I knew that was what you would say. You are just troublesome.”
She left the room while hissing angrily.
Who Is Kursum?
Ummul Kursum Muhammad Lawal is the only daughter of Alhaji Muhammad Lawal.
She did not grow up knowing her mother, Hajiya Muneera, who had married her husband out of true love.
Alhaji Muhammad loved Muneera deeply. But two months after Kursum was born, Allah took Muneera’s life.
When the news of her death reached Alhaji Muhammad, he was deeply shaken because he loved her so much.
From that moment, Kursum’s upbringing was placed in the hands of her mother’s elder sister, Halima, who had three sons: Abdulrasheed, Al Amin, and the youngest, Abdulkadir.
Kursum’s Upbringing
Hajiya Halima, whom they called Mami, spoiled Kursum greatly. No matter what Kursum did, she never saw it as wrong.
Kursum grew up loving her cousin, Al Amin. Since she was in JSS3, she had already made up her mind that she would marry him, and eventually Allah granted her wish.
Kursum had no respect at all and did not know how to speak gently. Because of this, she often had problems with Amin, her husband.
She also did not know how to do much apart from fashion. She was extremely fair, the type whose skin looked as if blood would appear if touched, and she was not very tall.

Kursum’s Dreams
Kursum had many friends from her school days in Turkey, and they contributed to shaping her attitude.
She was very clean and loved taking care of herself. She had two major dreams in life.
The first was to marry Amin, and that had already happened.
The second was to become a runway model. That dream had not yet come true, while most of her friends had already started their modeling careers.
Kursum was extremely jealous. She hated seeing any woman around her husband.
