Second Lieutenant Stuart Forrest Liles was a 26-year-old soldier from Hot Springs, Arkansas. He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 122nd Brigade Support Battalion, based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. According to military records, his service included deployments to Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.
Liles died on November 13, 2007, at Bagram Airfield, the main U.S. military base in Afghanistan. The Department of Defense stated he was killed while conducting combat operations in Parwan province, the region containing Bagram. No further specifics regarding the incident were released in initial casualty reports.
His death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001.
