Zuciya Book 1 Complete Hausa Novel English Translation
Abid entered the parlor and met Mom coming down the steps from Abba’s room.
She said, “Ah, are you already back?”
He began scratching his head nervously, thinking of what to tell her. Just then, his phone started ringing. He was relieved and even released a short breath.
He said, “I am coming, Mom. Let me answer this call.”
He did not wait for her reply before quickly stepping out.
After finishing the call, he went straight to Adeel’s room and found him sitting in front of his laptop, working.
Abid said, “So you even found time to sit and touch your laptop after leaving me in confusion? Mom has already started questioning me. Allah helped me that a call entered my phone, otherwise I would not have known what to tell her.”
Adeel replied calmly, “Tell her the truth. Tell her we did not go and that we came back. Is that difficult?”
Abid picked up a pillow and threw it at his face.
He said, “So you want me to tell her the truth so she will say we were already on the same road, but we did not want to go? As for me, by Allah, I am leaving this house now before she hears the full story.”
Adeel said, “Hmm, you should stop fearing her more than necessary.”
Abid replied, “Hmm, Adeel. You are careless with your happiness in this house.”
Adeel said, “One day, they will look for me and not find me. As for now, nothing in this house will give me a headache again.”
Abid laughed and said, “Just be careful so we can remain in peace, fried-bean-cake face.”
Adeel smiled too and pushed his laptop aside.
Adeel Wants to See Her Again
Adeel said, “I want to see her again. She is funny.”
Abid asked, “So you will apologize to her?”
Adeel replied, “Never. Dr. Adeel does not apologize, especially to a woman. She only makes me laugh.”
Abid asked teasingly, “Or has my friend fallen already?”
Adeel closed his eyes and said, “I do not know either. But I feel my heart wants to see her again. Tomorrow, we will return to that area.”
Abid said, “So my friend saw her only once and his heart fell this quickly?”
Adeel replied, “Even I am surprised. But I feel my heart needs to see her again.”
Abid said, “Adeel, may Allah protect you from falling into love with her, because if that happens, a major challenge will stand before you.”
Adeel adjusted his sitting position and fixed his eyes on Abid, silently asking for an explanation.
Abid said, “Yes, my friend. You know Naina loves you deeply, and I am also sure you care about her. She is your mother’s younger sister’s daughter. You know she truly loves you. Everyone in your family knows it. You also know how strong the friendship is between her mother and your mother. So I advise you early: warn your heart before it brings a matter that will cause trouble.”
Adeel said, “Abid, am I a child that someone will choose for me by force? Even if I love her and she loves me, I am allowed to marry up to four wives. And to be honest, I have never felt my heart care about seeing another woman again until this girl.”
He continued, “I am certain that if her love has truly entered my heart, nothing will stop me. I only need your prayer. May Allah make her heart send the same message to mine the way mine received hers in such a short time.”
When he finished speaking, he stood up.
Janira Returns Home
With greetings, she entered their modest house.
The house had three rooms lined up in a row, with a fourth room near the entrance. That fourth room belonged to their elder brother.
They were poor, though not in extreme poverty. But when compared with Adeel, they could not even be compared to his servants.
A woman came out from the small corner they used as a kitchen, holding a hand fan. She looked at Janira and saw her covered in dust.
She asked, “Ah, are you alright? Why are you covered in dust like this?”
It was as if Janira had been waiting for someone to ask. She sat down and began telling Mama everything that happened.
Mama only laughed and said, “Just be more patient, Janira.”
Yaya Anas, who was leaving the house, said, “Tell her properly. This girl has too much sharp tongue and no shame. One day I will break that mouth of hers.”
Janira pushed her lips forward and muttered under her breath before entering their small room.
Poor little room. It contained only a small bed. Even the room’s wall covering had torn in several places, revealing the cement beneath.
She bathed, ate, and lay down.
But his face kept appearing in her mind, smiling at her.
At first, she thought it was nothing. But later, she felt as if her heart wanted to send her a very serious message.
Flashback: 25 Years Ago
Dr. Elmansur Yaqub Dala was a famous businessman with great wealth.
Many powerful people in the country knew him, from politicians to big business owners. Even foreigners did business with him because he dealt in large amounts of money and international transactions. He was known across the world.
He had only one wife, Aisha, and their son Adeel.
After Adeel turned ten, Aisha gave birth again, slowly and gradually, until she had four more children, making them five in total.
They never knew hardship or poverty. Their life was always filled with happiness.
Aisha was a compassionate woman who cared deeply about the poor. She was from a royal family, yet she had no love for worldly pride. She always tried to place her children on the right path.
Daddy was the kind of man who, once you came to him with a matter, if he knew it was not harmful and he had asked the people closest to him for advice and they agreed, he would do it. But if they pointed out the weakness in the matter, then no matter how much his family wanted it, he would never do it.
He did not usually mix with poor people because he did not even spend much time in Nigeria. Sometimes, when people came to seek help, he would give them something. Other times, he would not even allow them to see him.
A Reminder About Wealth and Poverty
We all know the attitude of some wealthy people. There is no need to explain too much. Many of them do not like poor people coming close to them.
But the poor person has Allah, and Allah is the One who truly loves him. His poor relatives may also love him.
Still, looking down on a poor person is wrong. Allah did not give wealth to one person and deny another because He is powerless. He does it as a test of faith.
So humiliating another human being because of poverty is not right. It is not the behavior of people who truly believe in Allah’s oneness.
May Allah guide us to correct ourselves.
Adeel’s Family Tragedy
They lived peacefully as a family. All the children received care, especially Adeel, because Daddy loved him deeply.
But because Daddy did not always stay at home, it was not easy for people to notice how much he loved Adeel.
At that time, Adeel was twenty-five years old and had completed his university education.
When he returned home, he found that his mother was ill. She had even been taken abroad for treatment, but there was still no improvement.
Every day, Adeel and his siblings stayed close to her, crying as she advised them about life. She kept telling Adeel never to hate the poor, no matter what he became in life.
Daddy had travelled to bring back some of her medicines. After he left, her illness worsened. When the condition became more serious and Daddy was delayed, Ameer, who was older among the children, gathered all of them and took their mother to the hospital.
Misfortune does not miss its appointed day.
A huge tanker suddenly came toward them.
Ameer became terribly frightened. With their mother’s condition already worsening, he tried to avoid the tanker, but he failed.
In the end, the car lost control, hit the tanker, and was dragged along with it.
Before help could reach them, they had already gone ahead to the final home of truth.
