She knelt before him and opened a bottle of fresh milk. She poured some into a cup and handed it to him. He collected it and began drinking.

Just then, Salma came out of the kitchen holding her own plate.

She placed a small food flask in front of him. Naseer laughed and said, “Do you people want to kill me with food? I was already full before I left home.”

They all laughed, including Mama, who usually did not concern herself much with their affairs. This time, even she laughed while her attention remained on the television.

Salma said with a small laugh still on her lips, “Ya Naseer, it is not like that. How can you come to this house and go back without eating anything?”

Kheiri added, “Ya Naseer, honestly, you must eat properly. We will not accept anything less. This house is your house too.”

Salma said, “Sweet sis, leave him. He did the same thing to us yesterday.”

Naseer only kept laughing. Today, they had decided to force him to eat.

Naseer Is Forced to Eat

Mama stood up to go inside.

She said, “Naseer, I am going inside.”

Naseer quickly said, “Mama, will you not stay and protect me from these girls?”

She only laughed and said, “You are used to each other.”

Then she went upstairs.

Naseer said, “Alright, wait. I will eat, but on one condition. I will not eat everything. I will only take two spoons and stop.”

Kheiri said, “No, honestly, Ya Naseer, you must eat at least half.”

He replied, “Why not say I should eat until it comes out of my mouth?”

They kept pressuring him until he managed to eat fifteen spoonfuls with difficulty while they all laughed.

Then he said, “Now I have eaten and drunk. What next? Allow me to go and meet the person I came to see. Where is your brother?”

Salma replied, “He is inside. Maybe he is even sleeping.”

Kheiri said, “No, he is awake. I just heard him speaking on the phone.”

Naseer stood and headed upstairs while the girls carried the dishes back to the kitchen.

Naseer Meets Isma’eel

Isma’eel was standing in his room, dressed in black trousers and a white T-shirt. He was drying his hair while holding his phone between his shoulder and neck as he spoke.

Just as Naseer entered the room, Isma’eel was saying, “Alright, later. Thank you. I will call again.”

Through the mirror in front of him, he saw Naseer standing by the door with his arms folded across his chest, smiling.

Isma’eel turned and looked at him.

“Have you finished your romance?” he asked.

Naseer frowned slightly in confusion.

“Romance with who?”

Isma’eel replied, “With your girls, of course, since you have refused to choose between Salma and Kheiri.”

Naseer hissed lightly.

“You and your nonsense. You are the one in love. I heard you on the phone just now. Who were you speaking with?” he asked with a small laugh.

Isma’eel replied, “What is your concern? I was speaking with my wife.”

Naseer asked, “Who is your wife?”

“Nusaiba,” Isma’eel answered, laughing.

Naseer hissed deeply and said, “Nonsense. You are a coward. You have refused to tell her how you feel, yet you are hiding everything inside.”

Isma’eel replied, “Naseer, even you know I am braver than you when it comes to women.”

They Prepare to Visit Naseer’s House

Naseer sat on the large bed and said, “That is not the issue now. Let us go to our house. You know Daddy is returning from Umrah today, so let us go and help together.”

Isma’eel replied, “I was already prepared. Let us go.”

They came downstairs together. Salma and Kheiri, who were in the parlor, watched them as they came down. Each of them seemed pleased with Naseer, and they smiled until the two men reached the bottom of the stairs and prepared to leave.

Kheiri asked Isma’eel, “Yaya, where are you going?”

He turned and looked at them.

“We are going to Maman Deejah’s house,” he replied, referring to Naseer’s mother.

“Do you not know that Abba is returning from Umrah today?”

Salma said, “So, Ya Naseer, you people will not even invite us? We will go, even if you say we are going without proper invitation.”

They went inside, and each of them came out dressed neatly in matching outfits. Everything matched, including their small hijabs and handbags, which they held in their hands. Their phones were also the same type.

Salma, who was in front, said, “Let us go, Yaya.”

Isma’eel replied, “Alright, uninvited guests.”

They laughed and went out. Just as Abba was entering the parlor, they greeted him and told him where they were going.

Abba said, “But the driver will take you, right? Because I will not carry you.”

Kheiri asked, “How can you say that, Yaya?”

Isma’eel replied, “Then wait. We will have to divide ourselves.”

He said, “Salma, enter that one. Kheiri, come with me in my car. If not, the driver will take you, or you can cancel the trip.”

Kheiri said, “Alright, but we will enter Ya Naseer’s car. You can go alone in yours. Honestly, I will not agree otherwise.”

Isma’eel said, “So you people want to leave me alone?”

They said, “Yaya, let us go. But honestly, he will be the one to bring us back.”

He replied, “Fine. I agree. Let us go.”

With that, the gateman opened the gate, and they drove out. Salma sat in Naseer’s car, while Kheiri sat in Isma’eel’s car.

Salma and Naseer

Salma sat in the front seat and fixed her eyes on Naseer, staring at him. He noticed it but did not say anything at first. After a while, he could no longer ignore it.

He asked, “What exactly are you looking at like that? Do you not get tired?”

She gave a small shy smile. Embarrassment took over her, so she placed her head on his thigh while laughing.

“Yaya, honestly, you are handsome,” she said.
