Ogbe Ika, Ogbe Ka: Ifa Adeyeri
Ogbè-Ká, Lets go home you are the child of ọṣìn,
Ogbè-Ká, lets go home you are the child of ọrá,
Ogbè-Ká, lets go home you are the child of alákòko gúnlele alede,
The scorpion, with its venomous sting, moves with majesty and grace.
Ifa was Casted for Adeyẹrí, the child of Olówu Máyíní.
Adeyrí, as foretold by Ifá, was advised to perform a sacrifice to be able to gain children, especially to ward off the misfortune of Abikú; when she eventually bore a child, the children would not remain with her. She pondered on what to do and decided to seek the help of Ifa priest.
In order to secure the blessing of children, Ifá was consulted. They advised that she should perform a sacrifice. They chose a sacrifice for Adeyẹrí, and she complied. The sacrifice was accepted.
Since she had been giving birth to Abikú, she was no longer to bear Abikú; her children began to stay with her. Gradually, she began to reap the fruit of her labor over her children. Adeyrí’s heart began to rejoice.
She began to praise Awo; the awo began to praise Ifa, Ifa began to praise the supreme God in heaven. As she opened her mouth, she began to sing:
Ogbè-Ká, Lets go home you are the child of ọṣìn,

Ogbè-Ká, lets go home you are the child of alákòko gúnlele alede,
The scorpion, with its venomous sting, moves with majesty and grace.
Ifa was Casted for Adeyẹrí, the child of Olówu Máyíní.

A child is the joy of the world, a child is the joy.
Divination Instruction
Ifá declares that whoever gives birth to Ogbe Ika during Ifa consultation divination should perform sacrifice to ensure the blessing of children.
Ogbe Ika, Ogbe Ka: Divination Cast for Orisa Oko
"Apèrèbugbájẹ" Cast Ifa for the new hoe,
Embarking on a journey to Òde Írawò,
Seeking clarity and direction.
This verse of Ifa speaks about a new farmer preparing for a significant journey to Òde Írawò, a destination unknown to him.
The farmer is anxious and uncertain about what lies ahead—whether the place will be favorable or unfavorable for his endeavors.
Driven by this uncertainty, the farmer put one and two together and sought divination from a Babalawo (Ifa priest). After consulting Ifa, the Babalawo revealed that the farmer's journey to Òde Írawò required a specific sacrifice (ebo) to ensure success.
The Babalawo prescribed the necessary rituals, which the farmer dutifully performed.
After completing the sacrifice, the farmer embarked on his journey to Òde Írawò. Upon arrival, the community welcomed him warmly.
His work flourished, bringing him peace and satisfaction. In gratitude, he praised the diviners and sang the praises, highlighting the wisdom and guidance provided by Ifa:
Chant of Praise:
"Apèrèbugbájẹ"
Cast Ifa for the new hoe,
Embarking on a journey to Òde Írawò,
Seeking clarity and direction.
If this Odu appears during a divination, it signifies that the individual is about to embark on a journey that holds great promise of success. However, to ensure that this success fully manifests, it is essential for the person to perform the prescribed sacrifice.

Ogbe Ika, Ogbe Ka: The Ifa Cast For Orunmila in Oyo Ile
"Bùtù-bútù ònà ẹyọ
Ò kọmọ ní ìrin ẹsẹ
Yínyan ló ń kóm.
Ifa was cast for Òrúnmìlà on the day he embarked on a spiritual journey to Oyo Ile."
This Odu reveals that Òrúnmìlà decided to travel to Òde Òyó (the land of Oyo Ile) to fulfill a divine mission. Upon arriving in Òyó, Òrúnmìlà began to serve the community by providing Ifa consultations.
As a result of his wisdom and guidance, the fortunes of the people of Òyó greatly improved. Over time, even those living in the surrounding rural areas started seeking Òrúnmìlà’s counsel, and he became deeply revered.
The prosperity Òrúnmìlà brought to Òyó was so significant that the people urged him to remain permanently. Reluctantly, Òrúnmìlà decided to return home, but only after completing his work and ensuring that the people were set on the path of growth and stability.
When he finally departed, it was with a joyful heart and a sense of fulfillment. In gratitude, Òrúnmìlà sang:
"Ogbè-ká relé ó
Má sùn níjú
Awo tí ó gbófá rere kìí gbé ìjù."
Meaning:
"Ogbe-Ka safely returned home.
Don't sleep in the forest.
A diviner who understant the Ifa wisdom does not sleep in the forest."
Explanation for the Seeker
If this Odu appears during your divination, it carries a message about an important journey you are about to undertake. Like Òrúnmìlà’s journey to Òyó, this journey will bring you opportunities to positively impact others and achieve personal growth.
However, Ifa advises that to fully realize these blessings, you must perform the necessary sacrifice (ebo). The sacrifice will ensure that your journey is not only successful but also brings you fulfillment and a lasting legacy.
This Odu also emphasizes the importance of returning home and not becoming overly consumed by the pleasures or attractions of your current environment.
Guidance from Ifa
- Prepare Spiritually: Approach your journey with humility and readiness to serve or contribute meaningfully to others.
- Perform the Sacrifice: The prescribed ebo will pave the way for success and remove any obstacles that may arise.
- Stay Grateful: Like Òrúnmìlà, acknowledge and honor those who support you along the way, as this will sustain your blessings.
Ifa assures you that this journey will lead to progress and joy, provided you heed its counsel.
Ogbe Ika, Ogbe Ka: The Story of Ètìpnọlá, the Wife of Rabbit
"Ogbè-ká rè kàá ja
Ifa was cast for Ètìpọnlá, the wife of Rabbit."
This Odu tells the story of Ètìpọnọlá, the wife of Rabbit. In ancient times, she became dissatisfied with her husband and decided to leave him.
Before taking this step, she consulted the Ifa priests for guidance. She expressed her intention to leave her husband, and Ifa warned her against it.
The priests advised her to perform a sacrifice (ebo) to bring peace and contentment into her marriage. They cautioned that if she failed to heed the advice, she would eventually find herself in a worse situation and be forced to return.
Despite the warning, Ètìpọnọlá ignored Ifa’s counsel and left Rabbit. However, when she moved on to a new place, her situation deteriorated instead of improving.
Life became increasingly challenging for her, and she began to reflect deeply. She realized that the life she left behind with Ehoro was far better than her current circumstances.
Acknowledging her mistake, Ètìpọnọlá returned to her husband the Rabbit and, with gratitude, sang:
"Ètìpọnọlá, wife of Ehoro
Ètìpọnọlá, wife of Ehoro
I will return to rebuild my marriage with my husband."
Guidance for Seekers When This Odu Appears
If this Odu appears during your divination, it carries a strong message about patience, endurance, and valuing what you have. Ifa advises that:
- Avoid Hasty Decisions: Do not rush to abandon your spouse, partner, or any significant relationship without careful consideration.
- Perform the Necessary Sacrifice: Ifa emphasizes the importance of ebo to restore harmony and prevent regretful decisions.
- Appreciate What You Have: Often, dissatisfaction comes from a lack of perspective. Reflect deeply before making life-altering changes.
Lesson from Ifa
This Odu teaches us the value of perseverance and commitment. Whether in relationships, work, or personal pursuits, challenges are inevitable.
Ifa encourages you to face these challenges with patience and avoid decisions driven by temporary emotions. Stability and contentment are achievable when you remain grounded and trust in the guidance of Ifa.
