A1C Samek, Jesse Monroe, 21 years old, grew up in ROGERS, AR and served as Active Duty in the AIR FORCE with 66TH RESCUE SQUADRON, NELLIS AFB, NV during Operation Enduring Freedom.
On October 21, 2004, he died in +KANDAHAR AB, AFGHANISTAN. His name entered the Defense Casualty Analysis System that day.
In the early years of OEF, the Taliban had been driven from power but not destroyed. They retreated and waited. American forces were establishing bases across a country with no roads, no institutions, and deep ethnic fault lines.
