Saman Karimzadeh

Saman Karimzadeh was a child from Minab, a city in Iran's southern Hormozgan province. The coastal region is known for its distinct Bandari music and culture. He attended primary school, which in Iran typically holds classes on Saturdays.

On the morning of February 28, 2026, a missile struck the Shajareh Tayyebeh primary school building in Minab. Saman was inside the school at the time of the impact. He was killed instantly alongside other pupils and staff, according to initial reports from Iranian state media.

The strike occurred during a period of heightened regional military activity in early 2026. The incident was part of a series of reported cross-border attacks and retaliations involving Iran and other state actors. The school building was a civilian structure with no known military function.

Iranian authorities publicly condemned the strike, declaring a day of mourning in Hormozgan province. State television broadcast images of the damaged school and funerals. No group immediately claimed responsibility for the missile launch.
