U.S. Army Specialist Jameson Lynn Lindskog, 23, of Pleasanton, California, was killed in a hostile incident on March 29, 2011, in Sarkani, Konar province, Afghanistan.

Their Story

Jameson Lynn Lindskog was a 23-year-old specialist from Pleasanton, California, serving with the U.S. Army's 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He was deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to U.S. Department of Defense casualty reports, Specialist Lindskog died on March 29, 2011, in Sarkani, a district in Afghanistan's eastern Konar province. The official cause was listed as hostile fire. Media reports from the time indicate the area was a known insurgent stronghold where U.S. and Afghan forces conducted frequent counterinsurgency operations.

Lindskog's death occurred during the final years of the U.S.-led war in Afghanistan, which began in October 2001. By 2011, U.S. troop levels were near their peak following a surge ordered in 2009, with forces engaged in intense combat, particularly in eastern provinces like Konar along the border with Pakistan.

His death was listed in official Pentagon releases and noted by local media in his hometown of Pleasanton. He was survived by his family, including his parents.

Specialist Lindskog is memorialized on the Afghanistan War casualty lists maintained by the U.S. government and by veterans' organizations. His name appears on the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division memorial at Fort Campbell.
