Xhacob Latorre was a 21-year-old Marine corporal from Waterbury, Connecticut. He served with Fox Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, part of the 2nd Marine Division based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His unit deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
