Sergeant Denis Deleon Kisseloff was a 45-year-old soldier from Saint Charles, Missouri. He served with the 1141st Engineer Company, 203rd Engineer Battalion, part of the 372nd Engineer Brigade based in Kansas City. His unit was attached to the 82nd Airborne Division for its deployment to Afghanistan.
According to U.S. Department of Defense records, Kisseloff died on May 14, 2010, at Forward Operating Base Shank in Logar Province, Afghanistan. The official casualty report lists his death as the result of hostile action. No further specifics regarding the incident were publicly released by the military.
Kisseloff was killed during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. The mission involved combat operations against Taliban and al-Qaeda forces, as well as training and reconstruction efforts.
