Nathan Patrick Kennedy was a 24-year-old sergeant from Claysville, Pennsylvania. He served with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, based at Fort Carson, Colorado.
On April 27, 2010, Sergeant Kennedy was killed in Abad, Afghanistan, in what the U.S. Department of Defense classified as a hostile incident.
