Their Story
Adam Douglas Jones was a corporal in the United States Marine Corps, assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment, Regimental Combat Team 8, of the II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward). He was based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. According to military records, his service included deployments to Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.

His death was reported by several news outlets, including the Dayton Daily News, which noted his Ohio hometown. He was one of at least 1,500 U.S. service members killed in Afghanistan by that point in the war. The Marine Corps notified his next of kin.
Corporal Jones is listed on the Afghanistan War casualty rolls maintained by the Department of Defense and on memorials honoring those who died during Operation Enduring Freedom. His name appears on the online memorial of the 3rd Battalion, 2nd Marines, documenting the unit's losses.
