Their Story
Shawn Patrick Hefner was born in 1987 and grew up in Hico, Texas, a small town west of Fort Worth. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and was assigned as a rifleman to Delta Company, 2nd Assault Amphibian Battalion, Regimental Combat Team 7, 2nd Marine Division, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
On November 13, 2009, Hefner was killed during combat operations in the Nawa District of Afghanistan's Helmand Province.
