Michael Lee Green, 36, was a U.S. Army Major from Chagrin Falls, Ohio. He died in Laghar Juy, Afghanistan, on January 7, 2008, during Operation Enduring Freedom.

Michael Lee Green was a 36-year-old U.S. Army Major serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Special Troops Battalion, V Corps, based in Heidelberg, Germany. He was a native of Chagrin Falls, Ohio.
On January 7, 2008, Major Green was killed in Laghar Juy, a village in the Zabul province of southeastern Afghanistan. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, his death was the result of hostile action. Reports from the time indicate the area was a known insurgent stronghold.
Green's death occurred during a period of Operation Enduring Freedom marked by a resurgent Taliban and escalating violence. Improvised explosive device (IED) attacks and direct engagements had increased significantly by 2007 and 2008, particularly in Afghanistan's southern and eastern provinces.
Major Green was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. He was survived by his wife and children. His funeral was held in Ohio.
He is memorialized on the Afghanistan War Memorial at the Ohio Statehouse and is listed on the Pentagon's casualty roster for Operation Enduring Freedom.
