Ethan Louis Goncalo was a 21-year-old U.S. Army Private First Class from Fall River, Massachusetts. He was killed in action in Kabul, Afghanistan, on December 11, 2010.

Ethan Louis Goncalo was born in Fall River, Massachusetts. He served as a Private First Class in the Massachusetts Army National Guard, assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 181st Infantry Regiment, based in Worcester.
According to U.S. Department of Defense casualty reports, Goncalo died on December 11, 2010, in Kabul, Afghanistan. He was killed by an improvised explosive device while on a mounted patrol, a common insurgent tactic during the period.
Goncalo's death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. By late 2010, the conflict was characterized by a sustained counterinsurgency effort, with Kabul being a frequent site of attacks despite its status as the capital and a major coalition hub.
His body was returned to Massachusetts, where he was buried with military honors. The Fall River community and local veterans' groups reportedly held memorial services in his honor.
Goncalo is memorialized on the Fall River Veterans Memorial Walkway. His name is also inscribed on Panel 3W, Line 127 of the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Memorial in Boston.
