Brandon John Garabrant was a 19-year-old U.S. Marine Corporal from Peterborough, New Hampshire. He was killed in Helmand Province, Afghanistan, on June 20, 2014.

Brandon John Garabrant was a 19-year-old from Peterborough, New Hampshire. He served as a Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, assigned to 2D Combat Engineer Battalion (Forward), 2D Marine Division, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
Corporal Garabrant died on June 20, 2014, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. According to the Department of Defense, he was killed by enemy action while supporting combat operations. He was one of two Marines killed in the incident, which reportedly involved an improvised explosive device.
Garabrant's death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. By 2014, the mission had largely shifted to training Afghan forces and conducting counterinsurgency operations, with Helmand Province remaining a significant area of insurgent activity.
The Marine Corps announced his death on June 23, 2014. His body was returned to New Hampshire, where he was buried in Pine Hill Cemetery in Peterborough. His family and community held memorial services in his honor.
Corporal Garabrant was posthumously awarded the Purple Heart. He is remembered on memorials in his hometown and is listed among the 2,356 American service members who died during Operation Enduring Freedom.
