Galvan, Daniel Lee
Sgt. Daniel Lee Galvan, 30, of Moore, Oklahoma, was a U.S. Army soldier serving with B Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment. He was killed in action on August 12, 2004, in Salerno, Afghanistan.

Daniel Lee Galvan was a 30-year-old sergeant from Moore, Oklahoma. He served in the U.S. Army with B Company, 2nd Battalion, 25th Aviation Regiment, based out of Wheeler Army Airfield in Hawaii. His service reportedly included deployments to Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.
On August 12, 2004, Sgt. Galvan was killed in Salerno, located in Afghanistan's Khost Province near the border with Pakistan. The Department of Defense announced that he died from injuries sustained when his unit came under enemy small-arms fire during a dismounted security patrol. He was assigned to a task force providing support for Operation Enduring Freedom.
Operation Enduring Freedom was the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001 following the September 11 attacks. By 2004, the mission involved counter-insurgency operations against Taliban and Al-Qaeda forces, with forward operating bases like Salerno serving as critical hubs for regional security and reconstruction efforts.
