Gregory Michael Frampton was a 37-year-old Staff Sergeant from Santa Clara, California. He served with Company D, 1st Battalion, 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment (Airborne), based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky. The 160th SOAR, known as the "Night Stalkers," provides helicopter aviation support for special operations forces.
On January 30, 2003, Frampton died in Bagram, Afghanistan. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, he was killed in action. The specific details of the incident that led to his death were not publicly released by the military.
