Scott Edward Dickinson was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. He served with the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, part of the 3rd Marine Division based in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, and was deployed to Afghanistan as part of the I Marine Expeditionary Force Forward.
On August 10, 2012, Dickinson died in Helmand province, a volatile region in southern Afghanistan. The Department of Defense stated he was killed by enemy action while supporting combat operations. He was 29 years old.
