Jacob Anthony Dennis was a 22-year-old soldier from Powder Springs, Georgia. He served as a Private First Class with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 4th Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment, part of the 5th Stryker Brigade Combat Team based at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. He deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, Pfc. Dennis was wounded in combat in southern Afghanistan on June 29, 2010. He was evacuated for treatment to the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where he died from his injuries on July 3, 2010.
