Daniels, Nickolas Alan

Nickolas Alan Daniels was a 25-year-old from Elmwood Park, Illinois. He served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, assigned to the 3rd Combat Engineer Battalion, 1st Marine Division, based out of Twentynine Palms, California. His unit was deployed to Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).

On November 5, 2011, Daniels was killed by hostile action in Helmand province, a volatile region in southern Afghanistan. According to the Department of Defense, he died while conducting combat operations. No further specifics regarding the incident were released in initial casualty reports.

Daniels's death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001.
