William Harry Crouse IV was a 22-year-old Marine from Woodruff, South Carolina. He served as a corporal with the 1st Battalion, 10th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His unit was deployed to Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
On December 21, 2010, Corporal Crouse was killed by enemy action while conducting operations in Helmand province, a volatile region in southern Afghanistan. The Department of Defense announced his death the following day. No further operational details of the incident were publicly released.
