Joshua Daniel Corral was a 19-year-old from Danville, California, who enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He was assigned as a lance corporal to the 3rd Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, based out of Twentynine Palms, California. His unit deployed to Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
On November 18, 2011, Corral was killed in Helmand province, a volatile region in southern Afghanistan. According to official casualty reports, his death was the result of hostile action.
