Keenan Alexander Cooper was a 19-year-old soldier from Wahpeton, North Dakota. He served as a Specialist with Troop A, 4th Squadron, 73rd Armor Regiment, part of the 4th Brigade Combat Team based at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. Before deploying to Afghanistan, his unit had conducted missions in the Philippines and the Horn of Africa.
On July 5, 2010, Cooper was killed in Yakatut, Zabul province, Afghanistan. According to U.S. Department of Defense casualty reports, his death was the result of hostile enemy action. No further operational details of the incident were publicly released.
