This memorial documents journalists killed in Afghanistan from January 2018 onward. The period spans the final phase of the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission, the Taliban's 2021 military offensive, the withdrawal of international forces, and the subsequent establishment of Taliban governance. According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, at least 25 journalists and media workers were killed in the country between 2018 and late 2023. The majority of those killed were Afghan nationals.
