The Abbey Gate bombing was a suicide attack on August 26, 2021, at the Abbey Gate entrance to Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul, Afghanistan. The Islamic State – Khorasan Province (ISIS-K) claimed responsibility for the operation. According to U.S. and Afghan officials, the explosion killed 13 U.S. service members and at least 170 Afghan civilians.
