Chad Derek Clements, 26, was a U.S. Army specialist from Huntington, Indiana. He died on August 30, 2010, in the vicinity of the village of Morghan, Afghanistan.

Chad Derek Clements was a 26-year-old specialist from Huntington, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army with Company F, 4th Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, based out of Fort Carson, Colorado.
On August 30, 2010, Clements was killed in a hostile incident in the vicinity of the village of Morghan, in Afghanistan's Paktika province. According to the Department of Defense, he died of wounds sustained from an improvised explosive device that detonated near his vehicle.
His death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. The year 2010 was one of the deadliest for international forces, marked by a significant increase in the use of IEDs by insurgent groups.
The Department of Defense announced his death on September 1, 2010. His body was returned to the United States, and he was buried at a cemetery in his home state of Indiana.
Clements is memorialized on the Afghanistan War casualty lists and on local memorials in Indiana. His unit, the 1st Brigade Combat Team, continued its deployment in Paktika province following his death.
