Lance Corporal Jordan Lee Chrobot, 24, of Frederick, Maryland, was a U.S. Marine killed in a hostile incident at Camp Dwyer, Afghanistan, on September 26, 2009.

Their Story

Jordan Lee Chrobot was a 24-year-old Marine from Frederick, Maryland. He served as a Lance Corporal with Echo Company, 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, part of the 2nd Marine Division based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His unit deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

On September 26, 2009, Chrobot was killed at Camp Dwyer, a forward operating base in Helmand Province. According to the Department of Defense, his death resulted from a hostile incident. Specific details of the event were not widely reported in public releases.

Chrobot's death occurred during a period of intense fighting in Helmand. The U.S.-led coalition had launched major operations in the province earlier that year. The Taliban insurgency relied heavily on improvised explosive devices and direct attacks, making 2009 one of the deadliest years for international forces in Afghanistan.

His death was reported by local media in Maryland. The Marine Corps notified his family, and his remains were returned to the United States. A funeral service was held in his hometown.

Lance Corporal Chrobot is memorialized on the Frederick County Veterans Memorial and on online memorials for fallen service members. His name is inscribed on the Afghanistan War Memorial at the Doughboy Monument in Havre de Grace, Maryland.
