Julian Clement Chase was a 22-year-old sergeant from Edgewater, Maryland. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps, assigned to the 5th Air Naval Gunfire Liaison Company (ANGLICO), part of III Marine Expeditionary Force based in Okinawa, Japan. The unit's role was to coordinate air and naval fire support for allied and coalition ground forces.
On May 28, 2012, Sgt. Chase was killed by enemy action in the volatile Helmand province of southern Afghanistan.
