Corporal Isaiah Calloway, 23, of Jacksonville, Florida, was a U.S. Army soldier assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment. He died on October 30, 2006, in Marah, Afghanistan, from hostile action.

Isaiah Calloway was a 23-year-old soldier from Jacksonville, Florida. He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army, assigned to Company C, 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, part of Task Force Grizzly based in Hohenfels, Germany. His service included deployments to Afghanistan, the Philippines, and the Horn of Africa.
On October 30, 2006, Calloway was killed during combat operations in Marah, a village in the Pech district of Afghanistan's Kunar Province. According to the Department of Defense, his unit was engaged by enemy small-arms fire. He was one of two soldiers from his battalion killed in the same engagement.
His death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. In 2006, the conflict saw intense fighting in the country's eastern provinces, including Kunar, where U.S. and allied forces conducted counterinsurgency operations against Taliban and other militant groups.
The Department of Defense announced his death on November 1, 2006. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. His remains were returned to the United States for burial.
Corporal Calloway is memorialized on the Afghanistan War Memorial at Veterans Memorial Park in Jacksonville, Florida. His name is also inscribed on the Afghanistan and Iraq War Memorial at the University of North Florida, where he was a student before enlisting.
