Antonio Carlos Burnside was a 31-year-old soldier from Great Falls, Montana. He served on active duty in the U.S. Army, assigned to Company A, 1st Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, part of Combined Joint Task Force-1 (Task Force Devil).
On April 6, 2012, Burnside was killed in the village of Mushaki, located in the Jalrez District of Afghanistan's Wardak province. According to U.S. Department of Defense casualty reports, his death was the result of hostile fire. The incident occurred during a period of intense fighting in the region.
