Andrew Trevor Britton-Mihalo was a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. He was assigned to Company B, 2nd Battalion, 7th Special Forces Group, based at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida. He was from Simi Valley, California.
On April 25, 2012, Britton-Mihalo died in Kandahar province, Afghanistan. According to the U.S. Department of Defense, his death was the result of hostile enemy action. He was 25 years old.
His death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. By 2012, the conflict was focused on counterinsurgency operations, with Kandahar province being a major area of activity for Taliban forces and international troops.
The Pentagon announced his death on April 27, 2012. He was posthumously awarded the Bronze Star Medal and Purple Heart. His remains were returned to the United States.
Britton-Mihalo is memorialized on the Special Forces Memorial Wall at the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Liberty, North Carolina. His name is also inscribed on the Afghanistan War Memorial at the Simi Valley Town Center in his hometown.
