Randy Rashad Braggs was a 21-year-old Marine from Sierra Vista, Arizona. He served as a Lance Corporal with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, part of the 1st Marine Division based at Camp Pendleton, California. His unit deployed to Afghanistan as part of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF).
On November 6, 2010, Braggs was killed in Helmand province, a volatile region in southern Afghanistan. The Marine Corps listed the cause of his death as hostile action. According to a Department of Defense casualty release, he died while supporting combat operations.
Braggs was killed during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001.
