Bobby Edward Beasley was a 36-year-old sergeant from Inwood, West Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army with the Headquarters and Headquarters Company (HHC), 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, a Virginia Army National Guard unit based in Winchester.
On August 7, 2004, Sgt. Beasley died from wounds sustained in a hostile incident. He was medically evacuated to the Kandahar Combat Support Hospital (CSH), where he was pronounced dead. The Department of Defense did not release specific details of the engagement that led to his injuries.
Beasley's death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001.
