Jeffrey Alan Ammon was a 37-year-old Lieutenant in the United States Navy, assigned to Combined Joint Task Force 101. He was from Orem, Utah.

According to U.S. Department of Defense casualty reports, Ammon died on May 20, 2008, in Aband District, Afghanistan. The official cause was listed as hostile fire. He was serving with Combined Security Transition Command-Afghanistan, part of a mission to train Afghan security forces.

Ammon's death occurred during Operation Enduring Freedom, the U.S.-led military campaign in Afghanistan that began in October 2001. By 2008, the conflict had entered a phase marked by a significant Taliban-led insurgency and a renewed focus on counterinsurgency and training missions.
