Kyautar Budurci Book 1 Complete Hausa Novel
The emotional shock Zarina experienced was beyond description. Somehow, she managed to gather herself, turned around and walked away from the scene.
From that day onward, she distanced herself from everyone in the house. She locked herself inside her room and did almost nothing except cry.
Even when it was time for prayer, she could barely drag herself up to perform Salah. She switched off all her phones and completely withdrew from everyone.
The only time anyone saw her leave the room was when she went to the kitchen to find a little food, just enough to keep herself going.
Anas, on the other hand, was overwhelmed with happiness. As far as he was concerned, he had finally obtained what his heart desired.
His only problem was that he hardly ever saw Zarina anymore, not even at the dining table.
Even Aisha rarely had the opportunity to see her, so Anas could not even use his younger sister as a way of getting closer to Zarina.
In his own mind, he believed Zarina was simply avoiding him because she was shy about the marriage arrangement.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Ra’uf and Alhaji Rabi’u were completely occupied with preparations for the marriage.
Alhaji Ra’uf had already called Malam Ridwan and asked him to come to Kano together with his entire family. They were expected to arrive that very day.
Hajiya Lubna looked carefully at Zarina.
“Are you really alright?” she asked. “You have denied yourself every form of happiness. You no longer come out, and all you do is lock yourself inside this room.”
“If this marriage is the reason you have become like this, then you had better remove the worry from your heart and accept your destiny.”
“Because even if your breathing stopped, it would not prevent this marriage from taking place. Even if it were only your dead body remaining, it would still be washed and taken there.”
She studied Zarina’s face before continuing.
“Besides, I have never seen you showing interest in any man. I have never even seen anyone coming around you because of romance.”
Then she asked suspiciously, “Or is there someone you have already promised yourself to?”
Zarina remained silent.
Her silence gave Hajiya Lubna another opportunity to speak, this time in a softer and more persuasive tone.
“Please be patient. Learn to endure and accept what destiny has brought to you.”
“Be obedient, Zarina. Please obey us so that one day we can part from this world peacefully, knowing that you listened to us.”
Zarina stared at the door after her mother walked out.
The moment she was alone, she suddenly burst into painful tears.
“Anwar, you are the one I love,” she cried.
“You are my happiness.”
“It was because of you that I first understood what love meant. Through you, I discovered the happiness of being close to someone you love.”
“Because of you, I understood what unconditional love truly feels like.”
“Anwar, why didn’t you tell your father that you loved me?”
“Why didn’t you ever tell me that you loved me?”
“Why didn’t you show the whole world how you felt about me?”
Then another voice seemed to rise from within her own heart.
“Foolish girl, did he ever actually tell you that he loved you?”
“Just because he once told you there was something important he wanted to say, you immediately assumed he wanted to confess his love.”
“Come on, Zarina. Calm yourself down and think clearly.”
Her own heart continued to challenge her thoughts.
The arrival of Aisha, Basma and Bahijja suddenly pulled her out of the world of thoughts she had fallen into.
She looked at them.
Their presence could only mean one thing:
Anwar and his family had finally arrived.
Kyautar Budurci — Part 2
Anwar Ridwan was an exceptionally handsome young man.
He was reserved, responsible, stylish and always neatly dressed. At around twenty-three years old, he had already completed his Polytechnic education.
He had recently gained admission into Bayero University Kano, commonly known as BUK, where he was admitted directly into Level 2 to study Business Administration.
Today was the day he was preparing to leave Misau for Kano.
He would be staying in the home of his father’s elder brother, Alhaji Ra’uf, who had personally helped him secure the admission.
Anas Rabi’u, on the other hand, was the definition of a privileged young man.
He came from a wealthy Abuja family and carried himself with class, confidence and charisma.
At around twenty years old, he was currently studying in Holland, working toward his university degree.
Then there was Zarina Ra’uf.
She was the beloved daughter of her parents and an exceptionally beautiful young girl.
She had inherited much of her beauty from her mother, Hajiya Lubna, although many people believed Zarina had even surpassed her mother in physical beauty.
She had beautiful hair, knew how to dress elegantly and was naturally attractive.
Despite being raised with almost everything she could ask for, she had not become spoiled.
She was reasonably well-mannered and respectful.
Zarina was currently enjoying her sweet sixteen, although anyone seeing her for the first time might easily assume she was eighteen because of her mature physical appearance.
She was an SS3 student.
Anwar arrived safely in Kano and went directly to what could almost be described as his uncle’s earthly paradise — the luxurious home of Alhaji Ra’uf.
He received an exceptionally warm welcome.
Hajiya Lubna was naturally hospitable and loved having relatives and visitors around.
After Anwar was shown to his room, he settled down to rest.
Zarina was still at school when he arrived.
He was lying peacefully on the bed when Zarina eventually returned home and went straight to her own section of the house.
The weather over Kano was dark and cloudy, with all the signs that heavy rain could begin at any moment.
Before long, the rain started pouring heavily.
Zarina loved the rain.
Taking advantage of the fact that her parents were not watching, she quietly headed toward the garage.
She stepped into the rainfall and began enjoying herself, wearing only comfortable clothes suitable for the private compound.
She jumped around happily as the rain poured over her.
At that exact moment, Anwar walked toward the window of his room to close it because rainwater was beginning to blow inside.
Then he suddenly froze.
His eyes landed on Zarina.
For several seconds, he could do nothing but stare before quickly closing his eyes.
It felt as if an invisible arrow had pierced straight through his heart.
The sight of beautiful Zarina laughing and dancing freely in the rain sent a shock through him unlike anything he had experienced before.
And in that brief moment, without warning or preparation, something changed inside Anwar.
Anwar had fallen in love.
