Haske Book 1 Complete Hausa Novel
A woman was walking hurriedly, dressed in a kola-nut-brown Ankara fabric popularly known as Mai Dalma. In her hand, she was carrying something tightly wrapped in a piece of cloth.
She slightly raised her head and looked up at the sky.
Dark clouds were gathering heavily, while a strong wind had already begun to blow. Thunder rumbled continuously, accompanied by flashes of lightning.
Her feet suddenly came to a stop when she reached the edge of the water leading into the Makoko area.
She looked at the large number of canoes gathered along the waterfront, then lowered her gaze towards the bundle she was carrying in her hands.
Tears streamed down her face as she shook her head and said:
“I cannot do this!”
The Woman Reaches the Makoko Waterfront
She began turning around, carefully looking at her surroundings.
There was no one around except for a few dogs occasionally passing through the area.
She then walked towards one of the canoes among the many boats gathered there.
Without showing any fear, she stepped into the canoe.
She crouched down and carefully placed the bundle she had been carrying inside it.
Slowly, she reached for the cloth and opened it.
Immediately, the face of a newborn baby girl was revealed.
From the look of the child, it was obvious that she had only just been born, because even the blood from the delivery had not yet completely dried from her body.
A Newborn Baby Is Left Inside the Canoe
The woman covered the baby girl’s face again with the cloth.
She then placed an anklet on top of the wrapping.
After that, she stood up and stepped out of the canoe.
She moved behind it and began pushing it into the water.
She continued until she finally succeeded in pushing the canoe completely away from the shore.
Right before her eyes, the canoe began drifting freely across the surface of the water.
It slowly headed towards the wooden houses built above the water.
The woman wiped the tears from her eyes before suddenly turning around and running away from the place.
She Thought She Had Ended the Problem
That was only the beginning of destiny.
In her mind, she believed she had finally brought an end to all the problems.
After all, she had not killed the baby as she had been instructed to do.
Since the little girl had now been carried far away from the house, she believed that perhaps everything would finally come to an end.
She continued thinking this way without realising that, in reality, everything was only just beginning.
The Beginning of a Greater Destiny
The fact that she had allowed the little girl to remain alive would become the very reason that the doors to many other destinies would open.
Destinies so numerous and complicated that even the woman herself had no idea they were about to unfold.
It was as though she had killed a snake without cutting off its head.
Now, everything was about to begin!
