Zahra Ansari

Zahra Ansari was a first-grade student at the Shajareh Tayyebeh primary school in Minab, a port city in Iran's southern Hormozgan province. Her family name, Ansari, is common in the region. She lived with her parents in a residential neighborhood near the school.

On the morning of 28 February 2026, a missile struck the Shajareh Tayyebeh school building. The impact occurred during school hours. Zahra was reportedly inside her classroom at the time. The strike caused significant structural damage to the single-story building, collapsing parts of the roof and walls.

The strike occurred during a period of heightened regional military activity that began in February 2026. Multiple states in the region acknowledged military operations that month. Iranian state media reported that the strike on Minab was part of a cross-border attack.
