Lance Corporal Nicholas Johan Whyte, 21, of Brooklyn, New York, was a U.S. Marine killed in Ar Ramadi, Iraq, on June 21, 2006, during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Their Story
Nicholas Johan Whyte was a 21-year-old from Brooklyn, New York. He served as a Lance Corporal in the United States Marine Corps, assigned to Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, based at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.
On June 21, 2006, Whyte was killed by hostile action in Ar Ramadi, the capital of Iraq's volatile Anbar province. The Department of Defense did not release specific details of the incident, but his death occurred during a period of intense urban combat in the city.
