Lance Cpl. Kristopher Cody Warren, 19, of Resaca, Georgia, was a U.S. Marine killed in action on November 10, 2006, in Trebil, Iraq.

Their Story

Kristopher Cody Warren was a 19-year-old from Resaca, Georgia. He served as a Lance Corporal with the Marine Corps Reserve's Detachment 1, M Battery, 4th Battalion, 14th Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, based in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

On November 10, 2006, Warren was killed by enemy small-arms fire while conducting combat operations in Trebil, a town in Iraq's Anbar province near the Syrian border. The Department of Defense announced his death the following day.

Warren died during Operation Iraqi Freedom, a period of intense combat for U.S. forces. The years 2005-2007 were the deadliest of the conflict, marked by a surge in sectarian violence following the 2006 bombing of the al-Askari Mosque in Samarra.

His body was returned to Georgia, where he was buried with full military honors at the Gordon County Memorial Gardens. The local community and his unit held memorial services in his honor.

He is remembered on the Iraq War Memorial website and is listed on the Iraq War section of the National Veterans Memorial and Museum's registry. He was one of 4,418 American service members who died during the conflict.
