Their Story
Sergeant Walid Majid Sulaiman served in the Kuwaiti Navy as part of the country's armed forces. He was killed on the evening of Monday, 2 March 2026 ? the third day of the 2026 Iran war ? while performing his national duty in the context of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces' operational response to the sustained Iranian missile and drone campaign.
The General Staff of the Kuwaiti Armed Forces formally announced his death in a statement mourning him as a martyr. The statement described him as having been "martyred on Monday evening while carrying out his duty as part of the national missions entrusted to the armed forces." He was named alongside his fellow serviceman Sergeant Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Dakhil Nasser, who was killed the same evening. The General Staff "prayed for the two martyrs and their families" and reaffirmed its "commitment to fulfilling its national duties and honouring the sacrifices made by its personnel in the service of the nation."
The circumstances and precise location of his death were not disclosed by the Kuwaiti Armed Forces. His death occurred on the same day that multiple Iranian strikes targeted Kuwait International Airport, the Ali Al Salem Air Base, Camp Buehring, and other sites across the country. Kuwait's Defence Ministry reported that Kuwaiti air defences had engaged 97 ballistic missiles and 283 Iranian drones over Kuwaiti airspace since the war began.
His death was confirmed separately from the deaths of the two Land Border Security officers (Lt. Col. Abdullah Emad Al-Sharrah and Maj. Fahd Abdulaziz Al-Mujammad) announced by the Interior Ministry, and from the two unnamed Kuwait Fire Force officers killed while fighting drone-caused fires. Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed a total of four security and emergency personnel killed in the conflict as of 3 March 2026.
Sergeant Walid Majid Sulaiman was one of at least four Kuwaiti security personnel killed in the line of duty during the 2026 Iran war, alongside Sgt. Abdulaziz Abdulmohsen Dakhil Nasser (navy), Lt. Col. Abdullah Emad Al-Sharrah (border security), and Maj. Fahd Abdulaziz Al-Mujammad (border security).
